A Great Night’s Sleep

One of the best feelings is climbing into bed, between lovely clean, crisp sheets and lying your tired head on a freshly laundered pillowcase. Being on holiday and enjoying this means you haven’t done the laundry yourself – which is even better!

The comfortable surroundings at Chimney Gill Cottage ensures our guests have a great night’s sleep. The five spacious bedrooms welcome visitors and their luggage with super king-size double beds – in the three double rooms; alongside two twin rooms, offering amazing comfort with plush duvets and plump pillows. We know a bedroom which offers a quiet, clean space with tasteful modern décor helps to set a relaxed mood and create an enjoyable sanctuary. We pride ourselves on our first-class holiday home, with which we’ve taken lots of time and effort, to ensure a quality environment for all of our guests.

Hopefully, once you have arrived at the cottage, you will be in holiday mode and will have left your daily routine and work brain behind. You’ll plan your break – whether it be simply enjoying the local area at a suitably relaxed holiday pace, or exploring a range of activities with energy and gusto, you will still need to be rested so you can make the most of your stay in Cumbria.

Take this opportunity to leave digital devices outside the bedroom (or turned off) to ensure any distractions from a good slumber are minimised. Make sure you bring that book you’ve had on your bedside table since last Christmas and enjoy a digital detox whilst catching up on your favourite author, snuggled up in bed…give your brain a holiday too!

Did you know that people get a better night’s sleep on days when they exercise, so exploring the beautiful lakes and fells in the vicinity will not only be enjoyable but will be beneficial also. You may fall asleep faster and enjoy a better quality of sleep after exercising during the day.

In addition to the comfortable surroundings and relaxing pre-bedtime routine, here are a couple of suggestions to further aid you in your quest for the optimum 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep…

Almonds are a source of melatonin (the sleep-regulating hormone) and the sleep-promoting mineral magnesium These two properties make them a great food to eat before bedtime.

Camomile tea contains antioxidants which may promote sleepiness and improve overall sleep quality.

They are certainly worth adding to your luggage when you pack for your trip.
